Bishopscourt the latest Challenge for Adelaide Masters Series Competitors
The Adelaide Masters Series competitors face a new challenge for rounds seven and eight as the championship heads for Bishopscourt in County Down for the first time.
The televised event, which will also benefit from the backing of Car Dealership CR Morrow of Bessbrook, takes place on Saturday August 18th and will feature two championship rounds for Superbike and Supersport riders as well as the Grand Final where riders will race for the biggest prize fund of the day and the Norman Brown Memorial Trophy.
The series which is sponsored by Belfast based Motorcycle Insurance specialists, Adelaide Insurance, moves away from Mondello Park for the first time as the season reaches its half way point. All of the top riders from the Superbike and Supersport classes will be on the grid with the addition of a few new faces and some returning stars.
Brian McCormack leads the Superbike series from Lee Johnston who has been improving with every outing and took his first Adelaide Masters Final win at the last Mondello Park event. These two will be pushed hard by the other series regulars including Damien Byrne and Cody Nally and by the returning Marshal Neill, David Haire and Marty Nutt.
In the smaller capacity Supersport championship, its McCormack who once again leads the way from impressive newcomer to the class Carl Phillips, Declan Swanton and Jonny Buckley. McCormack took over at the top at event two with the absence of Richie Ryan due to injury and it remains to be seen if Ryan will be back to fitness in time for the Bishopscourt event.
The local stars will also have a new challenger to contend with when it gets to the big money final as they will be joined by rising stars Jake Lewis from New Zealand. Lewis is the reigning New Zealand Superstock 600 champion and will be using the next two rounds of the Adelaide Masters as part of his efforts to build his experience and profile in Europe.
Practice for the event which takes place on Bishopscourt's National Circuit layout, gets under way at 09:00 with racing from 11.30. Admission is just £10 for adults.
