Tyco Suzuki, the top Irish based British Superbike (BSB) team, will make their Adelaide Masters Series début this Sunday at round four of the 2012 Series. The Adelaide Masters Series, which is backed by Motorcycle insurance Specialists Adelaide Insurance, returns to Mondello Park for a single day event this weekend and Tyco Suzuki has entered American teenage sensation PJ Jacobsen.
Jacobsen who previously raced at Mondello Park on a 125cc machine will be re-joining Tyco Suzuki for the remaining BSB events and the team are using this weekends Masters to build his experience with their 1000cc Suzuki. The American has already raced this season for Philip and Hector Neill's team, at Brands Hatch and Oulton Park, taking a best result of sixth place in the Superstock class at Brands.
Speaking about his return to the Kildare track Jacobsen said, “It’s really cool to be back in Ireland and also to team up with the Tyco Suzuki guys again. I’m looking forward to getting back racing in British Superstock with them, but this weekend at the Adelaide Masters should be fun. I raced at Mondello Park on a 125cc GP bike back in 2007 or 2008 and really like the circuit. It’s more time on the big-thousand Suzuki, which is great.”
Tyco Suzuki team manager Philip Neill expressed his pleasure at having PJ back on board with his team, saying, “PJ impressed everyone in our team when he rode for us at Oulton and Brands, and there’s no doubt he’s a great talent and clicked immediately with the new GSX-R1000. We have decided to bring him back for the remaining British Superstock rounds and are also glad to be able to fit in the Adelaide Masters at Mondello as it’s a well-organised event. He’s there purely for track time but I’m sure he can give the local favourites a run for their money.”
Jacobsen will compete this weekend against the regular Adelaide Masters Series Stars in the Superbike class and will be hoping to be fully up to speed by the time the Grand Final comes around. In that final the fastest riders from the Superbike and Supersport classes will come together to compete for the biggest prize fund of the day and the Monarch of Mondello title.
Admission to Sunday's event is just €10 for adults with under sixteen's admitted free of charge. All admission includes free grandstand seating and a complimentary event programme.
