For Immediate Release
Motorcycle Racers to test their endurance at Mondello Park
Mondello Park is set to re-introduce Motorcycle Endurance Racing to the Irish race calendar with its opening event scheduled for Sunday June 5th on the International Track. The event will be open to racing machinery from a number of Irish championship classes.
The format for the new race will see teams of three or four riders share a single machine for a four hour endurance race which will have a Le Mans start. The race will be preceded by two hours of practice and qualifying, with the whole event running over a single day. Entries will be accepted from teams riding motorcycles conforming with Irish championship Superbike, Supersport, Supertwin, Pre '97 and Lightweight Supersport regulations. Awards will be made to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in all classes, where there are more than ten entries, and all riders in a team who make the podium will receive an award.
Mondello Park is aiming to attract new competitors into Motorcycle Racing with this very accessible new race format which it is hoped will appeal to current competitors as well as track day riders looking to progress into racing. To make the events as accessible as possible entry fees have been kept to a very reasonable cost of just €450.00 per team and in addition to considerable track time, the fee includes use of a shared pit garage.
The June 5th endurance race is the first of what Mondello Park hopes will become a regular feature of the Irish motorcycle racing calendar. If the first event proves popular a second 2011 race will be run on September 25th. For entry forms and event regulations see the Mondello Park web site, www.mondellopark.ie.
