Ireland’s biggest motorcycle racing series
Venue: Mondello Park - Ireland’s International Motorsport venue, in County Kildare just outside Dublin near Naas
Sat 20th & Sun 21st August –
National Circuit (Rounds 7-9)
Sat 1st & Sun 2nd October –
International Circuit (Rounds 10-12)
Qualifying and racing on Saturday and the main race day on Sunday.
Mondello Park MD, John Morris commented:
"The format and standard is very close to BSB. It’s raising the bar for short circuit racing in Ireland and this year represents the first of a multi-year development of the series, which along with Adelaide and our other partners, we hope to raise to a level never seen before in Ireland with a prize fund of €50,000."
Each class races three times over the weekend. Following qualifying on Saturday morning, that afternoon sees each class race for the first time on the day. On Sunday 21 August, the feature races for Superbike, Supersport and Grand Final will include grid interviews and podium presentations. All other classes i.e. Two-Stroke, Sidecar and one other support race will run before and after the feature races.
The Grand Final on Sunday 21 August is open to all solo classes. The top thirty riders, based on lap times in their races, will be offered a spot on the Grand Final grid. For the Grand Final at the last event in this season’s series on Sunday, 2 October – participation will be by invitation only. Riders will qualify for an invitation based on their performances in the finals at the first three events of the season with additional riders invited to join the grid. The Grand Final will be the only race of the day where riders will be racing for prize money. For all other races there will be an end of season prize fund.
There’s close competition with exciting battles throughout the classes. Four riders have hit the top step of the Superbike podium with Marshal Neill and championship leader Kirk Jamison taking two wins each. Mark Pollock and Paul Swords were the other two victors, with Swords's win being the first for a rider from the second division Bridgestone Cup class. In that class Swords leads the standings from Daniel O'Connell and Evan Delaney.
In Supersport, rising stars Keith Farmer and Jack Kennedy have split the six victories evenly between them. Both are mixing a programme of races in the UK with the Adelaide Masters Series events and may not do all rounds, which could leave the way open in the championship for the very consistent Gary Jeffers. In the Supersport Bridgestone Cup, Mark Conlin has spent the year looking at the exhaust pipe of another rising star Sean Hurley as Hurley has won all six races with Conlin second every time.
