Re: UK Coastal Charity Ride
Hi there,
I don't know if you are aware of Scotsman John Bryden's ride on behalf of his late daughter and her charity for kids.
John is attempting to ride the entire coast of the UK, including NI on his daughter's 125. He is looking for guiders/support from local bikers as he passes through.
Wales 2 Blue Knights is guiding him from Cardiff throughout the South and West coasts of Wales and notifying groups ahead. When he gets to Stranraer, he'll be taking the ferry over to Larne for the next phase.
You can catch up with John's story, route and current location on www.kirstyskids.org
He would be absolutely chuffed with any support you guys could give, and as an ex-pat Ulsterman myself, I'm well aware of the "Carrick Lot", having met many of you when I took a group over earlier this year. You gave us a great welcome which was much appreciated.
Here's hoping you'll give John a similar welcome, and perhaps let other groups know.
Many thanks guys,
Charles Ride Captain Wales 2 Blue Knights

Many thanks for the speedy reply.
All the info is on their website:
kirstyskids.org/
The entire route is on a PDF file, but you can get an hour-by-hour update on his location from the page link to Google Maps (he is currently approaching Dover as I write).
If the NI route is not shown, you can get this by contacting John or his wife Jan directly on john@kirstyskids.org
We surmise it might be about nine or ten days before he gets to NI - it all depends on how much help he gets navigating each area, and of course, the weather!!
Thanks again,
Chas

Hi again,
Three Branches of the Blue Knights managed to get John from the Devon & Cornwall coast toPembroke in Wales before handing him over to a few local clubs who got him to Fishguard on Thursday night. By Friday night he had reached Holyhead in Anglesey. He's been making good time, although he had lost four days due to mechanical and tyre problems in Wales. We managed to get them sorted, and he's well on his way to making up time. At his current rate, I would expect him to reach Stranraer/Larne on or around Tuesday - but he is an extremely tenacious bugger (in the nicest possible sense) and surprises everyone with his energy and determination. So he could get to Larne earlier. It needs careful monitoring. He's a lovely chap, very likeable, and very grateful for any support. I've told him that the Quay Vipers are a smashing bunch of guys and gals, and I know he's looking forward to meeting you. I've also told his wife Jan to contact you.
If you've been following his progress at all, you'll have seen his movements on kirstyskids.org He's not certain which route to take in NI as he's thinking of following the border area. Perhaps you could give him advice on that, and contact any groups or individuals who can guide him after you.
Thanks a lot for any help you can give.
Charles

Hi again to the Quay Vipers.
I'm pleased to say that we escorted John from Chepstow to Pembroke last Thursday, where we left him in the company of TOMCC, VOMC, and the Three Amigos who took him to Aberystwyth.
Since then, John has made through N Wales and as I write, is approaching Liverpool. At his current rate, I fully expect to see him arrive Stranraer/Larne sometime on Tuesday.
He has been an absolutely smashing chap to accompany, and I'm proud that the biking fraternity has pulled out all the stops to guide him on his way.
If you guys can individually or collectively assist him, I know he will be absolutely thrilled - he's asked where he might obtain a NI flag to join the England and Wales ones he's proudly flying!!
He had some mechanical and other bike problems as he entered Wales, and our guys got him some new front brakes, new chain, new tyres (he's already done 5500 miles!) and new speedo cable to keep him going. We're also trying to get Honda UK to do their bit for him.
If your chaps are willing and available to help, it now requires quite careful monitoring in order to meet him. You can do this from his website kirstyskids.org/ and his wife Jan can be reached by phone, e-mail or Facebook.
John would be abso' chuffed for any input.
Many thanks in anticipation,
Charles
